The University Times is Ireland's largest student newspaper. It has consistently won Irish Student Publication of the Year and in 2017 was awarded best all-around non-daily student newspaper in the world by the US-based Society of Professional Journalists.

The University Times is currently hiring journalists for the following positions in its art section:

  • Art Editor
  • Deputy Art Editor

Candidates for this section are expected to have advanced writing abilities and a strong interest in art, as well as an understanding of the art scene in Dublin. The Art Editor and Deputy Art Editor of The University Times produce content for Radius, The University Times's art, culture and societies section. The Art section covers art-based events in Dublin and in Trinity, such as events in the Douglas Hyde Gallery, the Science Gallery and the National Gallery. The Art Editor is also expected to have an interest in architecture and to write and coordinate pieces about Trinity's buildings.

However, the scope of the role may change depending on government restrictions in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Candidates should work very well in a team, and should expect collaboration with a wide variety of journalists, whether they are writers, photographers, illustrators or editors.

Candidates should understand that The University Times is an online-first newspaper. Our readership online, often reaching more than 150,000 people each month, has now by an order of magnitude overtaken our readership in print. As such, candidates for the positions in this section should expect to be responsible for weekly content schedules, reviews, event guides, requiring significant time commitments.
