There is a host of exciting activities to enjoy this Tuesday of Fourth Week, as the diversity of societies on campus is brought well and truly into focus. Now in its second day, 8×8 Festival, a film festival organised by Suas Trinity in collaboration with DU Amnesty and Trinity Global Development Society, focuses on the refugee crisis. Today, DU Amnesty and Suas will be hosting a powerful photographic exhibition in the Atrium from 12pm.
DU Amnesty’s #IWelcome campaign is a Humans of New York style photoshoot around Trinity campus, not unlike the Feminists of Trinity campaign that was launched last year by Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU). Come and hear the reasons why Trinity students are standing with refugees. You might spot yourself or your friends featured too.
Next, the Society for International Affairs’s (SOFIA) Model United Nations (MUN) workshop at 5pm will be focusing on nuclear disarmament in North Korea. This event will be held in Room 3071 of the Arts Block, and will question North Korea’s case for nuclear arms proliferation.
Tuesday evening is clearly a popular time for society happenings this Fourth Week, with an array of events to choose from. DU Music will be presenting a spectacularly spooky showing of Nosferatu accompanied by a live organ performance. The event will be held in the atmospheric surroundings of Trinity Chapel. Doors open at 7pm and the screening is kicking off at 7.30pm.
For those of a more comedic bent, Trinity Literary Society will be awarding Paul Murray an Honorary Patronage at 7pm in the Graduate Students’ Union (GSU) Common Room. An interview and a questions and answers session will follow.
And finally, speaking of questions, Quiz Soc will be hosting a quiz based on the game show Pointless at 7pm in the MacNeil Theatre in the Hamilton. Prepare for a wide range of obscure and interesting topics. You never know, your love of trivia may even earn you a spot prize! Not bad for a Tuesday evening.
