Korean Night, Bingeo and Bob Lister: Your Thursday of Fourth Week

With the second-last day of Fourth Week upon us, Fionnuala Egan maps out the best events for you to get the most out of your Thursday.

Fourth Week may be nearing its end, but the array of society event on offer this Thursday is showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Thursday evening of Fourth Week is jam-packed with fun and unique events for Trinity staff and students to enjoy for free. Start your evening with a celebration of Korean culture courtesy of TCD Korean Society. Expect authentic Korean music, food and games. The society will be walking over to the Drunken Fish at 5pm, meeting at the entrance to the Science Gallery.

Fancy brushing up on your map-reading skills and general geographical knowledge? DU Geographical Society will be hosting an excellently named geography-themed Bingo event, Bingeo, at 6.30pm in the Museum Building, GSSR-B. Great prizes are up for grabs!

DU Classical Society will be welcoming former classics teacher and lecturer at the Cambridge University Faculty of Education and Faculty of Classics Bob Lister to speak about the changing nature of classical education. The lecture is on at 7.30pm in the Swift Theatre, Room 2041A in the Arts Block. A lavish wine and cheese reception will follow and after that the society will be heading on to the Long Stone pub.

Feeling weighed down with college stress? DU Clinical Therapies are offering you a chance to escape with their climbing event at 8pm. Meet at the Rock Climbing Wall in the gym. And if that doesn’t alleviate your stress, they’ll be heading on to the Pav afterwards.

DU Film Society hosted a 48-hour Smartphone Film Competition on Monday. In Pacino’s on Suffolk Street, they will be screening entries from 9pm. Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether or not they entered a film. The showcase will be followed by a lavish awards ceremony with prizes, a raffle, a photographer and free finger food. A perfect end to your Thursday of Fourth Week, before its final day tomorrow.
