The Audi Dublin International Film Festival is set to make waves this year. The festival will take hold of the capital from February 16th to 26th and will be hosted in a variety of locations around Dublin’s city centre. International stars expected to grace the red carpet include Vanessa Redgrave, Nathalie Baye, Kerry Fox, Ross Noble, Ben Wheatley and Anna Friel, while the Irish delegation is made up of big names such as Jack Reynor, Moe Dunford, Cillian Murphy, John Butler and Aiden Gillen.

New films from across the world will see their Irish premiere, and thousands of fans will attend screenings over the 11 days and nights of the festival. The Irish Premiere of Maudie opens the festival on Thursday February 16th. Maudie is the critically acclaimed biopic of folk artist Maud Lewis, by Irish director Aisling Walsh (Song for a Raggy Boy). Closing night features John Butler’s dark comedy about Irish boarding school, Handsome Devil.

Sebastian Barry’s award-winning novel The Secret Scripture, adapted for the screen by the legendary Jim Sheridan, will also premiere at the festival. Other events include the presentation of a Volta Award to the remarkable Vanessa Redgrave. The Audi Gala will host a screening of new film Free Fire, which will be attended by Jack Reynor, Cillian Murphy and director Ben Wheatley. The documentary study of the Headfort School, In Loco Parentis, will be the new Centrepiece Gala.

The festival features many more premieres, including Tomato Red by Juanita Wilson, Nails by Dennis Bartok, Pickups featuring Aiden Gillen and Jamie Thraves, The Piano Lesson by Ken Wardrop and Photo City by John Murray and Traolach Ó Murchú.

Three international screen actors, Nathalie Baye, Kerry Fox and François Cluzet, will attend the festival, each giving tour-de-force performances in their respective films being screened at the festival. French screen icon Baye becomes the target of a dangerous obsession in Moka. New Zealander Fox stars as the uncompromising acting teacher in The Rehearsal and gives us a welcome review of her stunning performance in Jane Campion’s An Angel at My Table, while Cluzet stars in stylish paranoia thriller Scribe.

An eclectic lineup greets the guests of this years Audi Dublin International Film Festival. It is a celebration of both Irish and international filmmaking, and the festival now holds a firm position in the global festival circuit.
