While everyone is grumbling about essay deadlines and the cold weather, you may crave a break from the negativity and find yourself looking for a fun and lighthearted event. This week, there is a variety of fun events to choose from, whether you want to listen to some upbeat music or would like to kick back in the cinema in front of a cult classic.
Monday:
Organised by Trinity Ents and DU Players, Pulp Fiction will be shown in The Lighthouse Cinema at 8pm this evening. Tickets are only €7 and there’ll be enough popcorn to feed you for dinner so it’s a no-brainer. So glitter up and prepare to sit back and quote the movie alongside some equally eager fanatics. Tuesday:
On Tuesday at 7pm, head on over to the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI) on Pearse St for a night of puppet-making with the Trinity Paediatric Society and Trinity VDP. This workshop will teach you how to make every kind of puppet creature you could imagine. Once it starts back after Christmas, the same groups will be heading to Crumlin Children’s Hospital every Monday evening for arts-and-crafts sessions with the children in St Anne’s Ward. This event will be a perfect taster for anyone interested in taking part after Christmas.
Wednesday:
Wednesday sees the much-anticipated AfroJam take place. This event will kick off at 6pm. While last year’s event focused on the musical aspects of the cultural celebration, this year there will also be an exhibition of fashion and dance. This society is one that certainly knows how to have fun. It would be a shame to miss an event that will be as memorable as its counterpart last year.
Thursday:
Being the fourth Thursday of November, it is of course Thanksgiving. Whether you are missing this celebration at home or you simply want to celebrate gratitude with food and friends, then this is the perfect event for you. The event, commencing at 12.30pm in the Global Room is sure to get you in the festive mood and how better to do that than to stock up on helpings of pumpkin pie? Friday:
Traditional Irish Music Society’s fourth recital this year invites Mick, Louise and Michelle Mulcahy to Trinity. This family is considered the most impressive group of multigenerational performers in the world, each playing a vast array of instruments. They were recently recognised for their talents by TradConnnect 2017, which awarded them Album of the Year for their album The Reel Note. Be sure not to miss this wonderful opportunity to see them perform live by heading along to the event at 7.30 pm. The location is yet to be confirmed so keep an eye on the Facebook page.
