The Trinity Summer Series is set to return again this July with six concerts running from Monday July 23rd to Sunday July 29th.
In an email to all staff and students, Head of Central Events, Jillian Wilson, said Trinity is “building on the success of the inaugural Trinity Summer Series in June 2017”. The series of concerts is held on College Park and organised by MCD, the company that organises Trinity Ball.
Wilson said that each concert will run from 8pm to 10.30pm with a 60 to 90 minute soundcheck each evening, except for Thursday, as there will be no concert.
Wilson said that “MCD will be announcing the concert line-up and ticket details in the coming days”, adding that the money taken in from the concerts “will be invested in supporting the College’s academic mission”.
Information about vehicle access and pedestrian access will be shared with students and staff soon, said Wilson.
Last year the Pixies, James Vincent McMorrow, Bell X1, Gregory Porter, alt-j and Two Door Cinema Club performed for the concert series, with ticket prices ranging from €44 to €54, including a booking fee.
Provost Patrick Prendergast welcomed the idea of Trinity hosting gigs and concerts over the summer, when speaking in an interview with The University Times last year: “When we have the opportunity to make money from events, we do need to do it. Every university is doing it…And this is generating revenue we can use for academic purposes.”
