Trinity Indian Society (Indian Soc) has had to postponed its annual Holi Festival celebrations in Front Square again due to the weather.
The event was originally due to be held last Monday, but the lingering snow and bad weather conditions from Storm Emma forced Indian Soc to reschedule. The society said on Facebook, this afternoon, that the event will be “postponed to a sunny day” with preparations well underway.
The sold-out event has been a huge success for the society over the past seven years, with hundreds of tickets sold within days. This makes the event Indian Soc’s biggest of the year, and one of the largest annual society events in College.
Holi is an Indian spring festival of colours in which participants traditionally throw coloured powder at each other to celebrate the beginning of Spring. The event this year was to be followed with an ultra-violet Holi colour night in Tramline, but it has too been postponed by Indian Soc.
Other notable college-wide events held by the society this year have included Diwali, which took place in Players Theatre and had over 100 students in attendance. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated every year in autumn.
