Trinity’s campus has been re-opened to the public after closing its doors for several hours due to heavy snowfall.

The College announced at 11.55am on Twitter that it would be re-opening the campus and the Book of Kells exhibition at 12pm.

This morning on Twitter, Trinity confirmed that campus had been closed. However, the College was still accessible to all students and staff.

Estates and Facilities staff were out in force this morning, sweeping steps and making paths accessible after the latest flurry of snow hit campus last night.

Met Éireann has issued an orange weather warning for the east of the country. However, the warning is expected to lift this afternoon, with the current snowy weather unlikely to cause the same disruption as Storm Emma.

Trinity has become well used to snow in recent weeks. Last month, campus was closed for five days as the worst storm in decades hit Ireland.

With some St Patrick’s Festival activities cancelled across the city, today’s Colours competition on the Liffey was also a casualty of the snow. Its cancellation was announced this morning.

In February, students took enthusiastically to the snow, building snowmen and igloos across College.
