Aungier Danger, the donut shop that started a donut craze in Dublin, is closing after almost three years in business.

The donut shop announced the news on Instagram: “Donut lovers, we hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but we’re officially hanging up the apron.”

Upon opening in 2015, queues stretched up Aungier St, ushering in a donut trend that swept the city.

The company opened a second shop down the road on George’s St, which has been closed for a while. Late last year, a third shop opened on Merrion Row but closed down shortly after opening.

In April, Aungier Danger began selling their donuts on Deliveroo so that customers could have them delivered to their house.

Since the arrival of Aungier Danger, several donut shops have opened up around Dublin, including OffBeat donuts, Boston Donuts and new branches of The Rolling Donut. Last year, Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) began to stock Offbeat donuts in their shops in House Six and the Hamilton.
