Suffering from those post-reading week blues? Well fear not, because campus is abuzz with events this week. From Halloween celebrations to important discussions around discrimination, events this week are certainly covering a wide range of topics and interests. So whether you’re embracing festivities or eager to enjoy the many events of the Trinity Long Room Hub, you won’t be disappointed with this weeks line-up of events.
Tuesday
Join Trinity Long Room Hub in the Edmund Burke Theatre to enjoy the wise utterings of the esteemed Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon for the annual Edmund Burke Lecture. Muldoon, a former radio and television producer for the BBC in Belfast, has taught at Princeton University for the last 30 years. Not only this, but the writer has authored some 12 collections of poetry, celebrated around the world – certainly a prolific career. Muldoon is sure to be full of stories to be shared this Tuesday at 6.30pm.
Wednesday
Trinity Ents will be transforming The Hub in Temple Bar into a basement of horrors for its official Halloween Party, Nightmare on Eustace Street. With a resident DJ and a prize for best costume, the event promises a night of fright and and fun. Tickets are on sale on the event’s Facebook page at €10 each, or €12 at the door opening at 10pm.
Thursday
Head down to the Global Room for 6.30pm and join the Afro-Caribbean Society and a diverse group of panelists, who will be starting a conversation about discrimination and stigma both within and outside of the the black community. An engaging event, bent on sparking important discussions on campus and welcoming everyone to join in and share personal experiences and opinions.
Friday
Trinity Film Review will release its first issue of the year, the celebration issue, with a launch night this Friday at 6pm in the postgraduate common room in House Seven. The magazine celebrates all things cinema, with a dedication to covering Irish and Trinity-based filmmaking, and its upcoming edition is sure to satisfy all our cinema-loving needs.
