Over 200 people were given the coronavirus vaccine at Trinity’s pop-up vaccination centre this week.
The centre was open on Monday and Wednesday and was open to students who had not yet been vaccinated.
Those who attended the centre were given the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The clinic will operate again to administer second doses next month.
The HSE vaccination centre on campus is one of 11 centres in colleges.
Director of the College Health Service David McGrath told The University Times in an interview earlier this year: “This is an excellent opportunity for our students and staff to get vaccinated to make our campus as safe as possible as we begin the new academic year.”
“I strongly encourage as many people as possible to participate in the vaccination programme”, he said.
“It will be especially beneficial to our international students who may not have a recognised vaccination in Ireland.”
Trinity distributed free disposable face masks to students this week.
Trinity’s path out of the lockdown has provoked anger in students: a protest was held at the Dining Hall last week in response to the continuation of online classes.
Around 200 students gathered at the Dining Hall chanting “let us in” and “face to face”.
Organised by student campaign groups Students4Change and TCD F2F, various speakers rallied the crowd and claimed students had been misled and robbed of their college experience.
Speaking to The University Times, Students4Change Chair László Molnárfi said that students’ education “needs to be taken into account”.
College has said this week that exams are likely to return to the RDS at Christmas, and graduations in the Exam Hall are to resume next month.
