Trinity students Ella Roberts and Kathryn Dane have both been called up to the Ireland women’s squad for the upcoming autumn tests against the USA and Japan.
The two physiotherapist students will be competing for a starting berth in head coach Adam Griggs’ matchday 23.
Third-year Roberts, currently uncapped, has been selected on the back of some scintillating form for her club, Wicklow. The Trinity scholar, who also plies her trade for Leinster, recently starred in Wicklow’s first ever Women’s AIL Division 1 12-07 win over Malone.
Dane, 25, will be looking to build on the sixteen caps she has already won for her country. The scrum-half has continued to impress for her club Old Belvedere, and for Ulster too. Dane started all three of Ireland’s Six Nations games in 2020.
The first of the two Autumn Tests will be played against the USA – the US Eagles – under the lights on Friday 12th November.
The Japan game will be played a week afterwards on the 20th November.
Both games will be played at the RDS. The USA game is scheduled to be the first Women’s international fixture ever to be played at that venue.
