In an email sent out to students this afternoon, College announced that Kinsella Hall, the 24/7 Library, and the 1937 Postgraduate Reading Room will be closed from 4 pm on Saturday, the 5th of October. This comes almost a week after Kinsella Hall was closed due to a reported electrical malfunction. The College cited the need for further electrical works as the reason for this closure.

For the time being,  the Hamilton Library has been provided as an alternative 24-hour study space and will be open to students from Saturday, October 5th to Monday, October 9th.

A similar incident occurred last weekend, where Kinsella Hall was announced as closed until further notice on Saturday evening due to electrical issues. This issue was not announced through email but rather posted on Trinity College’s Library X (formerly Twitter) account.

Responding to the now-deleted X post from the Trinity Library account, Trinity College Students’ Union President Jenny Maguire called on College prioritise supporting current library spaces instead of new builds.
