A pest control van was sighted on campus today . A worker for the Elis company confirmed that there’s a problem with ants, mice, and rats at Trinity every year. The worker stated that he will deal with ants tomorrow in a room on campus, once Estates and Facilities have directed to him where the problem is.
A Trinity security guard said the pest control company were here for rats. “They’re all over campus. We watch them every night on our cameras. Every year it’s a problem.”
In 2018 pest control was called after rats were spotted in house six / Teach 6 – the building which Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union operates out of.
In 2021 the Irish Examiner reported that “Trinity has had to spend almost €28,000 in two years dealing with pest control issues – from wasps’ nests and carpet moths to rat sightings on campus”.
College have stated: “There has been a single report of ants. Pest control is booked for tomorrow morning.”
