Manifest love, luck and productivity this year with The University Times’ unofficial guide to the best crystals to keep on your windowsill and carry around in your back pocket!

In case you didn’t know, crystals are in right now. Lizzo and Adele are big fans, and who are we to argue with them? Now that you’re in Trinity, it’s time that you upped your crystal game to make the most of your college year. So sit back, relax and get ready to unlock the properties of these magical stones.

Amethyst

One of the most popular crystals, this versatile purple stone has a vast range of powers, from ridding anxiety to securing a good night’s sleep. Targeting the crown chakra (located at the top of your head), amethyst brings a sense of physical and emotional tranquillity, easing headaches and migraines. Simply place an amethyst by your bed and look forward to a clear, calm mind, free of the stresses of college life.

Black Tourmaline

A great start to the college year is to be in a positive mindset. Having trouble with this? Black tourmaline is an absorbent crystal that can soak up any negative vibes that come your way on campus. Associated with the root chakra, black tourmaline can ground you when college life feels overwhelming. Toxic society members, be gone!

Selenite

College can be a tiring place, especially in your first year. Alongside your fifth morning cup of coffee, why not pick up a selenite stone, the best crystal for rejuvenation. Clearing out the day’s bad vibes, it sends you into a more peaceful flow of energy. Unleash your inner wizard and cast the selenite around your body like a wand to draw out all the energetic obstacles that stand in your way.

Lapis Lazuli

Despite what you may have heard, college isn’t all fun and games and sometimes, you actually do need to do some work. But don’t worry, lapis lazuli is here to help! The blue crystal is hands down the best one to keep at your study desk, encouraging a free flow of ideas, clarity and directness.

Rose Quartz

Looking for love on campus? Unlucky in love everywhere? Well, look no further than this rosy pink crystal. Rose quartz is the best crystal to use when manifesting love and new relationships. Equally, if you’re in the midst of emotional mayhem, this crystal encourages empathy and reconciliation and apparently brings inner peace to its holder.

Blue Topaz

Known as the “gemstone of opportunity”, blue topaz is associated with wisdom, communication and finding the perfect pathways to success and opportunity. It’s a stone that alleviates fear and worries and encourages you to embrace your noble self, trust your inner power and find good fortune. Starting a new college year after nearly two years of coronavirus, I think we could all do with some of this.

What next?

Now that you have your collection, you need to use your crystals. Meditate with them. Place them in cosy places in your home. Hide them under your pillow. Slip them into your pocket for on-the-go healing. You’ll thank me later.
