Pádraig Mac Brádaigh has been elected the inaugural Oifigeach na Gaeilge (Irish Language Officer) of the Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU).
Running unopposed for the position, Mac Brádaigh was elected on the first count.
Mac Brádaigh is the current part-time Oifigeach na Gaeilge and led the YesGaeilgeTCD campaign that enabled the creation of the sabbatical post.
The final-year Early and Modern Irish student from New York wants to enable the writing of dissertations in Irish, and offer students an option to access College-affiliated websites such as Blackboard and my.tcd.ie through Irish.
Additionally, he hopes to introduce beginners’ Irish language classes in the Global Room for international students.
