Former Trinity student Aaron Heffernan is set to become the latest star of Stuart Carolan’s RTÉ drama Love/Hate.
The 23 year-old graduate of Drama Studies and Classical Civilisation has taken up the role of Detective Inspector Gavin Brogan for series four of the popular gangland programme.
Aaron’s acting career to date has included performances in The Importance of Being Earnest and Oklahoma! to name but a few, however this new venture will see him playing quite a different character, portraying an ambitious detective looking to bring down Nidge and his gang.
The casting has caused quite a stir amongst female fans of the show and not just for his considerable acting talent. Many will be looking to Heffernan to fill the “eye-candy” void left after primary heart-throb Robert Sheehan was dramatically cut from the programme at the end of series three.
Speaking to Irish Independent journalists at Dublin’s Fringe Festival, Heffernan said it was both a “scary and exciting” experience joining the cast of the show.
When contacted by The University Times he was quick to recognise the creative atmosphere and excellent work carried out in Trinity, stating, “The Samuel Beckett Centre and DU Players are serious spots and potent breeding grounds for very strong work. It was between there and DUBC that my collegial loyalties lay and adventures took place for me in Uni.”
Series four of Love/Hate airs later this year.
