The sounding of an intruder alarm resulted in the partial clear-out of Trinity’s 24-hour study hall this evening.

Several students were forced to leave the facility, known as Kinsella Hall, after an unidentified trigger caused the alarm to sound for almost 45 minutes.

Speaking to The University Times, College security stated that it was not aware of what had set off the alarm, but that it had been successfully de-activated. A College security guard stated that he was not aware of whether there had been an evacuation, but students present confirmed to The University Times that the library had not been evacuated.

However, soon after, it became apparent that the alarm was not just a momentary interruption, as a cluster of students was seen departing the library.

Kinsella Hall is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as a late-night facility for students. The alarm is often triggered by a student leaving with a book that has not been checked out properly. No cause has been found as yet for tonight’s event.
