Estates and Facilities will remove the marquee on Botany Bay this Thursday allowing for outdoor sporting activities to take place on the tennis courts as restrictions have eased.
In a statement released on their website regarding the reopening of outdoor sporting facilities, Trinity Sport said: “Estates and facilities have started to dismantle the marquee which is currently located at Botany Bay. Once this has been completed a final clean up and repairs of the courts will take place.”
“Once completed, Trinity students and staff will be able to book available time slots for the tennis courts located at Botany Bay”, they added.
In an email to residents in Botany Bay accommodation today, College’s Accommodation Office said that: “E&F have just advised that the Marquees in Botany Bay will be dismantled this Thursday 6 May, between 9 am and 5 pm.”
“The removal of lighting and generators etc has already commenced and will be completed tomorrow, Wednesday 5 May 2021”, it added.
The Botany Bay marquee was one of two tents set up this year – the other in New Square – to facilitate students spending time on campus, while following public health guidelines.
The government has eased restrictions on sporting activities to allow for underage training outdoors in pods of 15 as well as individual sport activities such as golf and tennis to resume for all adults.

Outdoor facilities that cater to individual sports have also reopened for all adults, including the Islandbridge boathouse and College Park running track.
Trinity Sport in their statement, said: “Sporting activities for all ages which are deemed individual, non-contact, outdoor training such as tennis, golf, rowing, and athletics can also resume.”
“There will be limited activities at the Islandbridge boathouse for student rowers (singles). On-campus, College Park running track and fitness trail can reopen, alongside the tennis courts at Botany Bay for students and staff.”
As of next Monday, May 10th, training can resume for all sports teams in pods of 15 outdoors.
