UCDSU President’s USI Reforms

1. Direct elections for USI President in 2014. All students will have a vote either online or with their sabbatical elections
for the candidate they wish to see lead their National Union.
2. Regional officers will be the Campaigns Officers for their region. The National Campaigns Officer will draw up and design the national campaigns. Regional Officers will implement these campaigns in their region whilst the national Campaigns Officer will focus on national campaign strategy and implementation in the Dublin area.

3. USI will amend voting structures to ensure that Congress delegates follow mandates set by Member Organisations. This will be done in time for Congress 2014.

4. A review of the affiliation fee structure. The review will take place before June 30 2013. The review must look at the NUS model and staggering affiliation fee’s based on the number of students per member union and comparative benefit from USI. A commercial strategy will be drawn up by a professional consultant to increase USI’s revenue from other sources as part of this review by the same date.

5. Employment of a Policy and Political Adviser who will research and create policy documents and advise on political and lobbying issues.
