The candidates that will be running in the sabbatical elections have been announced by Education Officer, Jack Leahy, and Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC), Ciara Coghlan, on the steps of Mandela House at 5:50pm this evening.

Both Welfare and Ents are also three horse races. It was announced that fourth year Science student Ian Mooney is against 3rd year Social Work student Daniel McFadden and final year TSM student Helena Hughes for Welfare.

Second year BESS student Ben Ó Mathúin battling it out for Ents with Finn Murphy, in third year Engineering and JF TSM French and Italian student Aleksandra Giersz.

In the Communications race, 3rd year Single Honours English student Samuel Riggs versus 4th year Film Studies student PJ Maloney.

Katie Byrne is in a safe position as the final year Zoology student is uncontested in the Education race.

Many students may be disappointed as it seems that there will be no joke campaigns this year.

The Leadership Race campaigning period will officially begin at 11pm on the 2nd February. The campaigns will last up to a period of eleven days in total, with the votes being counted on Thursday, February 13th.
