Due to clashes with Trinity Week and Good Friday, Trinity Ball will be delayed two weeks this year.

The 2015 Trinity Ball will run two weeks later than normal this year, on the 17th of April, due to a calendar overlapse.

The Ball is traditionally held on the last Friday of term, which is the Friday before Trinity Week. The Ball is being delayed due to the usual date falling on Good Friday this year.

The Ball cannot be held the week after, as College do not want the presence of stages during Trinity Week, when new scholars are announced, due to the prevalence of public events on campus during this time.

Speaking to The University Times, SU Ents Officer Finn Murphy said that he does not believe the change of dates will effect ticket sales or the popularity of the event.

“It’s very unfortunate that the Ball is closer to exams, but we have to make the best of what we’ve been given. We do not anticipate that the change of date will effect ticket sales of The Ball – this has happened in the past, with no adverse effect on attendance.”

“It cannot be held the week before due to many students still being on placement or finishing lectures, and it cannot be held on a Saturday due to Sunday licensing issues.”

The last time Trinity Ball was delayed was 2012, due to another calendar crossover with Good Friday.
