CSC Hands out Society of the Year Awards, with the Phil and DUPA Taking Top Honours

Trinity Arts Festival won the most awards of the evening.

Dublin University Photography Society (DUPA) have won Best Overall Society while The Phil have won Best Large Society at the Central Societies Committee (CSC) Society of the Year Awards. Trinity Arts Festival came away with the most awards of the night.

The awards, held annually, began tonight at 7pm in the O’Callaghan Alexander Hotel.

Dublin University Photography Association (DUPA) also won best Medium Society, beating out DU Computer Science, DU History and Trinity Knitting Society, while Trinity College Christian Union won best Small Society, beating out Traditional Irish Music Society and Trinity Student Managed Fund (SMF). Peter Gillen has won Individual of the Year for Trinity Entrepreneurial Society.

The Phil, in winning Best Large Society, beat out Trinity Entrepreneurial Society (TES), DU Players, and Trinity VDP.

Trinity Knitting Society won the Societies’ Choice Award.

Trinity College Global Development Society won Best New Society, beating out other finalists, DU Arabesque Society and DU Caledonian Society. Traditional Irish Music Society was awarded Most Improved Society for the year. Abbie O’Neill took home Fresher of the Year for her involvement in Trinity VDP.

Both TES and Trinity Arts Festival (TAF) won Best Online Presence. TAF was also awarded Publication of the Year for the TAF 2015 programme as well as winning Best Poster for Paradise Lost.
