Róisín Bradley, a Senior Freshman Law student in Trinity College Dublin, is running for the Ard Chomhairle of Fianna Fáil.

The Ard-Chomhairle, the national executive of Fianna Fáíl, is chaired by party leader Micheál Martin. Bradley is running for the committee of fifteen, a part of the Ard Chomhairle composed of seven women and seven men, with a final seat reserved for a representative from Northern Ireland.

Speaking to The University Times, Bradley stressed that young people should not be confined to the youth wings of the party. She highlighted how important it is to have “a mix of generations” involved in the leadership at a high level, as the party evolves and builds up to the general election of next year. Currently, there are only a handful of people under the age of 25 involved in the committee of twenty, which is to become the committee of fifteen.

Bradley, who currently serves as a class representative in Trinity and has been a member of Fianna Fáil since the age of 16, believes that student activism is to be encouraged, and that the political societies in Trinity are “important”. In her manifesto, she prioritises “an agenda of reform within the broader party structure” and “promoting the active engagement of young people at the heart of the party”. She is competing with fourteen other women for the seven seats at the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis, which takes place on the 24th and 25th of April in the RDS, Dublin 4.
