This week will mark the commencement of the annual Trinity Arts Festival (TAF). Naturally, this means that there will be plenty to keep us art lovers busy, but let’s hope we don’t need to skip too many lectures. From yoga and headband knitting, to DJing and propaganda – no matter what you are into, TAF offers something for everyone.

With so many gallery tours, arts and crafts events, interesting talks and coffee mornings, it’s a struggle to keep up with all the excitement.

The TAF Gallery Crawl will be kicking off at the Douglas Hyde Gallery at 3pm on Tuesday and is set to hit up all the best exhibitions in the city centre and is certainly not to be missed. Come and mingle with all the other art lovers as TAF views exhibitions and discuss what Dublin has to offer. If you happen to miss out on this, fear not, as you can try to catch Dublin University Photography Society (DUPA) and Architecture Society (Arc Soc) in the National Gallery between 11am and 1pm. Here, you can take the opportunity to snap some pics of the newly refurbished halls that only reopened last year.

Of course, you don’t need to be a gallery nut to get artsy during TAF. Any practising artist, hobbyist or simply the curious should keep 5pm on Tuesday and 3pm on Thursday free, as there’ll be a watercolours and a life drawing class on offer in Pearse St. Alternatively, you can spend Monday prepping a fresh new look with a range of crafts events such as the tote bag workshop with Trinity Fashion Society in the morning, a headband knitting workshop with Knit Soc at 2pm, followed by a tie-dye workshop happening from 4pm to 6pm in Halls.

But if the theory of art is more your thing, or perhaps if you think art serves no useful role in society at all, come along to the Art & Propaganda talk run by the Trinity Politics Society at 2pm on Wednesday, which is bound to be thought-provoking.

Take the chance to grab a coffee in the morning at 10am on Wednesday or Thursday and get your caffeine buzz whilst learning about the architecture of our beautiful campus.

So whatever it takes to fulfil your artistic needs, the Trinity Arts Festival is sure to satisfy. And with so many other amazing events taking place, we’re all bound to fall behind on our reading list this week. Be sure to check out the full timetable of events and locations on the Trinity Arts Festival Facebook page.
