Trinity Sport has announced a series of free Movember events aimed at supporting men’s mental health and raising awareness of testicular and prostate cancer. Throughout November, Trinity Sport will host several activities designed to “bring the Trinity community – men and allies – together in support of these vital causes”. These events include spin classes, men’s mindfulness meditation sessions and a men’s mental health seminar. The series will culminate in a Trinity Sport Spinathon on November 27th, an all day cycling event held “in solidarity and to fundraise for men’s health”.

Daniel Twomey, director of the Trinity Sport Movember initiative, expressed his passion for promoting awareness around the causes supported by the Movember organisation. When asked what Movember means to him, Twomey emphasised the importance of giving people the opportunity to speak out about issues that often go unaddressed. “Movember means giving everyone the opportunity to raise their voice and raise awareness around issues relating to men’s health. Silence and stigma are real killers when it comes to mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer, so giving men and allies the space and encouragement to speak to these issues can be hugely impactful.”

Twomey hopes that Trinity students will join him in helping break these stigmas by taking part in the Trinity Sport Movember series, which includes both physical and educational events. “Participants can expect opportunities to engage in sport, wellness and educational activities organised by Trinity Sport to raise awareness and vital funds to support men’s health worldwide,” he said.
