At 8:25pm, former Education Officer Eoghan Gilroy announced Eve Martin as the winner in the race for Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU/AMLCT) Education Officer. Martin was elected on the first count, having received 2127 votes, representing 55.5 per cent of total valid votes cast in the race.

This confirms the recent University Times election poll, which saw Martin as the predicted winner with 58.1 per cent of poll votes. Sam Brooks was predicted to place second with 38.3 per cent of votes, and Re-Open Nominations (RON) trailing behind with 3.7 per cent of poll votes.

Accepting her success, Martin commended Brooks: “Well done to Sam, you ran a great race”, as well as her campaign manager “who [she] couldn’t have do it without.” She also said “thank you to absolutely every person out there who voted for me” and finished with a smile, shouting: “let’s make this college less shit!”.

Martin’s manifesto included a College-wide policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a continued push to implement modular billing, as well as the implementation of a discount on fees for Trinity undergraduates wishing to pursue a postgraduate degree at the college.

In a statement to University Times, Martin stated “Thank you to everyone who voted For me I am so fucking appreciative, I hope we can do great things!”
