At around 4pm on April 7th, Trinity’s Law Society (Lawsoc) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), and announced the results of the elections for officers of Lawsoc’s 93rd session.
Law Soc’s Competitions Convener, Michael Mckeever was elected Auditor, defeating Secretary Chris Kelly. According to his manifesto, his goals include prioritising and getting feedback on speakers, reflecting the diversity of the legal field in Lawsoc’s events and sponsorships, reforming the event ticketing system, and “keeping the fantastic momentum going … promis[ing] to build on what has been exceptional, and focus reforms only where they are needed”. Mckeever is currently a Junior Sophister Law and History student.
The AGM also saw the election of the rest of the committee.
Sean Cahill was elected Treasurer, defeating Sophia Shaw. Cahill is a Junior Sophister Law student, and has spent the past two years on Lawsoc’s Outreach Subcommittee.
Lily Scanlan was elected Secretary, defeating Rachelle Bailey. Scanlan was the Competitions Convener of Lawsoc’s 91st session, is a Senior Editor for the Trinity Law Review, and is the current Deputy Opinion Editor for the University Times. Scanlan is a Junior Sophister Law and German student.
Saoirse Bhreathnach was elected Librarian, defeating Klaragh Watt and Sydney O’Reilly. Bhreathnach is is also Eagarthóir Cultúrtha Gaeilge for the University Times, and a Junior Sophister Law student.
Conor Heerey was elected Social Secretary, defeating Alannah Horgan and Káláíne Akinniranye. Heerey is currently the Moot Court Convener for Trinity’s Free Legal Advice Clinic (FLAC) and a Senior Editor for the Trinity Law Review. He is also a Junior Sophister Law and Politics student.
Sophia Flavin was elected Charities Officer, defeating Dexter Stremming, Neve Marnagh, and Sarah Nolan. Flavin was the Public Relations Officer in the 91st session for the Trinity Women in Law (TWIL) subcommittee and is currently a Junior Sophister Law and Politics student.
Eve Thompson was elected Public Relations Officer, defeating Akunna Ferguson-Ukanacho, Anna-Lucia Thiel, and Cathy Wan.
Tom Leahy was elected Competitions Officer, defeating Julia Galiza and Stefana Maganu,
Emily Davis was elected TWIL Officer, defeating Isobel McSorley and Eliza Heaslip.
Clodagh McGlynn was elected Second Year Rep, defeating Cain O’Connor and Caoimhe McGuigan.
Megan Hipwell was elected Third Year Rep, defeating James Kenny and Aiveen Curley.
Phoebe Wibawa was elected Fourth Year Rep, defeating Liam Maguir, Emmanuel Talabi, and Saraid Clare Tipple.
