The Piranha

I love them. I fear them. I want to be them. First published in god knows when, the Piranha is Trinity’s official satirical publication, and perhaps the only example of student comedy that won’t make you want to bang your head into a wall. If you’re naturally hilarious, keep an eye out for their application windows. And if you’re just a mere mortal, read along with us from the sidelines.

Misc Magazine

“The students make the university”, and Misc makes the arts block. Founded in 1895 as TCD: A College Miscellany, Misc focuses on all things student life, culture, and commentary. You can get involved by joining their writers group chats via Instagram and grace us all with your opinions on history, politics, erasmus, and more!

Icarus

As Ireland’s oldest arts journal, Icarus is home to all things creative. Icarus is known for being a centre of Irish literature, with former editors including Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin and Derek Mahon, and having previously published the works of Seamus Heaney and Eavan Boland. DO you want to join this distinguished list? Icarus accept submissions roughly thrice per year, so get working on your submissions for the next round now!

TN2

TN2, originally a supplement of Trinity News which branched off individually in 2012, is an alternative arts and culture magazine. With sections in fiction & poetry, food & drink, film, and music, TN2 reports on all things creativity on campus and beyond. If the thought of writing about Molly Mae or Normal People sparks your fancy, then make sure you make your way to their writers group chats to pick up a pitch.

The University Times

In the most shocking revelation of the term, the UT section editor likes writing for UT. Also, I’m legally obliged to include us in this totally unbiased list, or I’ll be shunned from Radius for life. Publishing a broadsheet roughly once a month and uploading digital articles weekly, the University Times is the perfect avenue for any first timer to get involved in student journalism. Whether you’re interested in news, science, fashion, or societies (hint hint), there’s a section for everyone.
