Fancy learning how to make a flower crown? Well Picnic in the Pav is for you. Today at 1pm, The University Philosophical Society (the Phil) and the Visual Arts Society (Vis Arts) are joining forces to bring you a chill event that doubles as a flower crown making workshop.
Despite the chilly September air, Vis Arts and the Phil plan to prolong the mood of the summer for just one more day with their picnic style event in the Pav. Complete with a flower crown making workshop and some sweet summer tunes, this event will set the mood the fun week ahead.
Speaking to The University Times, Conor Nevin, Steward of the Phil, talked about the different opportunities he saw in organising this event in conjunction with Vis Arts. Pointing out a lack of day-time events, Nevin thought to take advantage of the “underutilised” space of grass outside the Pav. Teaming up with Vis Arts was the perfect opportunity to get in an artistic mood and make some unique flower crowns for the Phil’s headline night out Club Philth.
Club Philth will take place in the Grand Social on Thursday at 10pm. The event is floral and forest themed, and so it’ll be the perfect opportunity to wear your newly made flower crown. Tickets for Thursday night are €6 and available from the Phil’s freshers’ stand this week.
Vis Art’s chair, Sophie Mulcahy Symmons, assured, when speaking to The University Times over email, that all of the materials and a demonstration will we provided, so no artistic skills are required! If the arty antics of Vis Arts interest you, they’ll be running events every day this week, including gallery tours and walking tours, as well as their infamous, annual tie dye event on Wednesday at 2pm in the Eliz Room of House Six.
Do note that the event will move in the GMB if weather prevents the event from taking place outside and freshers are urged to come along, mingle and make a flower crown.
