Students at the 24 hour sit-in are preparing themselves for a long night in the library.
With no further communication from college authorities, students are busying themselves with games of charades, Monopoly, Poker and Twister before bedding down for the night. Others are quietly reading to themselves or watching footage from The X Factor episode which was broadcast earlier in the evening.
Nevertheless the atmosphere remains subdued and it has become clear that the sixty students onsite are here for the long haul. The doors to the library have been locked since 7pm this evening and the security desk inside is being manned by security guards and Students’ Union sabbatical officers working in shifts.
The occasional curious passer-by waves in the windows, but apart from this there has been no disruption to the protest.
The protest continues until 4pm tomorrow, after which it will become clear whether further direct action on the part of the Students’ Union will be necessary.
