The Erne Head of the River at Enniskillen marked a triumph for the Senior Dublin University Ladies Boat Club team, who not only claimed the Kidd Cup, but also broke a women’s course record in the process, finishing the four mile race in just under 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, it was not a record-breaking day for the men’s Senior boat, as they came seventh in their fixture, crossing the finish line 1 minute and 48 seconds after the first place finishers, the University College Dublin A-boat.
It’s not all bad news for the DUBC, as their Novice A-boat brought home the victory for the men’s race over 15 seconds faster than UCD, who came in at second place. Over on the women’s team, the Novices placed in third position, finishing after the UCD and University Galway Boat Clubs, respectively.
The pinnacle of the racing season is fast approaching, with the Colours race set to take place on March 21st. With hopes high for the rest of the season, DUBC will look to add more silverware to their collection.
