Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin spice does not have to end at Halloween. A bit of pumpkin puree, milk, coffee, and a sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, you can whip up a cafe-style latte at home for under two euro per cup. Enjoy a slow morning getting ready for your day and sipping on a spiced drink that tastes like autumn in a cup. Make a simple syrup in advance to save time during busy, chilly mornings.

Sugar Cookie Latte

Bring the bakery to your kitchen with a sugar cookie latte. Mix steamed milk, espresso or strong coffee, vanilla extract, and a touch of sugar or cookie syrup (homemade with sugar, butter, and vanilla). The sweet, buttery flavor tastes indulgent without costing a fortune, less than four euro a cup. Garnish with a little cinnamon sugar or sprinkles. Perfect to serve to friends.

Mulled Apple Cider

Before you hit the pub this weekend or settle in for a long night of seasonal movie marathons, warm up with mulled apple cider. Simmer apple juice or cheap cider with cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and a slice of orange. Sweeten lightly with honey or sugar. This makes a warm fragrant drink perfect for evenings at home or to share with friends. Enjoy non-alcoholic or spike with a splash of rum or whiskey. A large batch is bound to make four to five cups, less than €1 a cup.

Gingerbread Latte

Spice up your early December mornings or late-night study sessions spent studying with this recipe. Combine milk, coffee, and a homemade gingerbread syrup. Mix brown sugar, water, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sweet, spicy, and warming, this drink scratches that holiday itch so early in the season and is less than two euro per cup.

Peppermint Mocha

You’re on your third cup of coffee of the day and are headed home from your last class. Stopping in the coffee-shop close to home is a costly option. Instead, at home, mix hot chocolate with a shot of espresso and a dash of peppermint extract. Sweeten as you like, then top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings. Satisfy your caffeine addiction as well as the late night chocolate craving for less than €2 a cup.
