On February 14th, at our very own Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland faced Italy for their second match in the Six Nations Championship.
While Jamie Osborne opened the score for Ireland in the 17th minute, Sam Prendergast’s missed conversion set the stage for a strained first half for the Irish fans. Giacomo Nicotera’s try in the 33rd minute led Italy into the second half with a confident 10-5 lead over the Irish.
The tide quickly turned early on in the second half, with two tries from Jack Conan and Robert Baloucoune bringing home the victory for the Irish team. Replacement Jack Crowley converted a penalty in the 63rd minute, sealing Ireland’s victory at the final score of 20-10.
After a demoralising loss against the French team on February 5th, this is the victory to set the Irish hearts aflame on Valentine’s Day. The Irish team will soon be put to the test in their match against the English team, set to kick off on February 21st.
