Peadar Walsh has been elected Entertainments Officer of Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) on the first count.

In a poll conducted by The University Times, Walsh was predicted to receive 83 per cent of votes. The real result reflected this prediction.

Citing his experience as the incumbent Ents Officer for the JCR, Walsh ran on a platform of welfare and inclusivity, promising to implement crowd control, anti-spiking and drug safety measures at Trinity Ball and to expand welfare training to Ents committee members.

In an interview with The University Times, Walsh cited his time as Ents Officer as giving him an “ear to the ground” on what students want.

Throughout his campaign, Walsh pledged to collaborate with Ents Officers from other universities to put pressure on late-night venues in Dublin to make their premises more accessible for those with reduced mobility.

Walsh also emphasised his plans to shift the focus of Trinity Ents to large-scale events, which he hopes will provide better sponsorship opportunities for the organisation.

Pav reform was a central component of Walsh’s campaign. He pledged to promote different genres of music, to campaign for the opening of a second bar and to increase the use of the Pav marquee for large society events.
