Dublin has been ranked in the top 10 cosiest cities in the world for an autumn getaway, according to a new survey from AllClear, a travel insurance company based in Britain.
To compile the list, the survey selected cities that are “regularly mentioned on social media and in news articles internationally as being cosy, and popular winter city break destinations”. Afterwards, the list was narrowed down by cross-referencing with other parameters such as annual precipitation; number of UNESCO World Heritage sites; and number of book shops, cafes, and cinemas per square mile. Each city was given a rank out of 100 based on the final readings, with Dublin itself ranking at a 50.96 score, placing it 10th on the list.
“Dublin is a city where you definitely don’t need good weather to see it at its best” said the report from AllClear. “Whether your idea of cosy is finding a quiet cafe for an Irish coffee or sipping a pint in the famous old Temple Bar, then Dublin has got it all, and is a perfect choice for a quick trip if you’re looking for a break to tide you over until summer starts again.”
The cosiest city in the world, according to the list, is Brussels, Belgium, which scored at 76.33. Other cities named include Victoria, Canada; Bath, England; and Copenhagen, Denmark at numbers 8, 9, and 4, respectively.
