Bingo Loco has made a return for refreshers week, transforming a traditional game of bingo into a mutli-round party experience at the Grand Social this past Thursday. The event has been organised collaboratively by Trinity Ents alongside DU Snowsports, VDP, Fashion Soc, and Law Soc. The event created a highly engaging and creative night of Bingo followed by a club night at the same location.

The concept behind Bingo Loco is a simple twist on the classic game, combining the structure of classic bingo with themed music or challenges. The main twist being two people will get Bingo at the same time. Each participating society hosted one bingo round, complete with its own unique theme. Past themes have included Y2K, Rave, and Irish Icons, all designed to make the atmosphere fun and unpredictable. At the event this past Thursday, attendees participated in a 2016-themed round and a ‘white girl banger’s round, which had the room singing along.

While the bingo itself followed faimilair rules, such as completing a diagonal or horizontal line, the twist comes at the end with two people winning at the same time. The two winners are then invited onto the stage for the ‘loco challenge.’ The challenges are aimed to be silly and entertaining for the crows and are judged by the cheering of the audience. The challenges of the most recent event were limbo, a lip sync battle, a mannequin challenge, a dance off and a Vogue off. The prizes for the night included a fifty euro bar tab, a law ball reserved ticket, bobos vouchers, tang vouchers, vintage vouchers, along with many other goodies.

When asked about the event law soc committee member Rachelle Bailey said, “Overall, it’s a super fun event that we were really excited to be apart of and bring back for second semester, especially considering how much people loved it for freshers week and how much fun we had organizing the event.” The event’s popularity has not faltered over the past few years and it will surely be a hit next term.
