On the 13th of February, at Pav Friday, as part of the Big Fat Trinity Wedding, one of six couples was engaged and set to be married. The six couples competing to be wed were: Freddie and Geoffrey, Kiana and Josie, Molly and Seb, Auguste and Oscar, Teddy and Michael, and Luke and Maire. Each couple led their own pub crawl on the 11th of February in order for the attendees to decide who they would vote for via donations.
The Big Fat Trinity Wedding is one of the larger Trinity events, held in collaboration with the Law Society’s Charities subcommittee and Trinity FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centre). As part of the event at large, donations made will be going towards Women’s Aid, Dublin Simon Community, and Free Legal Advice. Each couple was charged with raising money for the aforementioned charities and the couple with the most donations would be engaged-to-be-wed.
In anticipation for the announcement of the couple-to-be-wed, DUDJ and UCDJs hosted a spin-off also in line with the theme of Colours. At 9 pm, the couple to raise the most money via donations were Luke and Maire, having raised €1845. Luke is a Global Business student and Maire is a BESS student. As part of the Big Fat Trinity Wedding, the two are set to be married on the 18th of February in the Atrium at 7:00 pm with afters set to be held at Bewley’s on Grafton Street. The remaining five couples will be the bridesmaids and groomsmen for the ceremony. All in all, the Big Fat Trinity Wedding raised a total of €3302 which surpassed their target of €2500.
