Ordinary Council Member
Do you love your society? Do you want everyone to know it? OCM is a perfect place to start your campaign for society take-over, or simply assist with the management of your favourite society. If you are a first year who wants to get involved, or a third year who knows you can’t spend more time procrastinating your dissertation next year, run for OCM and never let anyone forget it!
Librarian
Apparently this role isn’t just about looking after books? The librarian hosts weekly society meet-ups, as well as helping to organise society publications, if they should be so lucky. Deeply stressful and deeply rewarding, this is the perfect role for all who love having a chat, running to M&S for cookies and are prepared to read through loads of submissions from people who are definitely not members of the society.
Public Relations Officer
Admit it, deep down you want to be an influencer and that’s why you are running for PRO. Making content for a college society is the next best thing. The face behind the camera, the genius behind the endless reels, the Canva fanatic, you know how to keep the fans engaged. You may not be famous, but if you make another video about campus being terrorised by seagulls (and tourists), or tell some bad jokes in the GMB, you might get a couple of reposts from your fellow society members.
Social Secretary
The life of the party! The highlights of the Social Sec’s year are organising society balls and reading week trips. But wait, it doesn’t stop there! The Social Secretary is in charge of all your favourite events, from movie nights to pub quizzes, to talks with very distinguished guests. They make sure society members have something fun to spend their money on.
Treasurer
Filled with capitalist greed? Want to put that economics degree into action? Run for Treasurer! Treasurers are in charge of the society’s finances, making sure they stay within budget, while still accounting for a couple of trips to the Newry Big Tescos for refreshments. Looking after accounts, filing invoices, writing finance reports, blah blah blah it’s all in a day’s work for the treasurer. Just don’t ask them where the money is going at the AGM.
Secretary
Do you love writing emails? Do you think you are hilarious? Good, because that’s basically all a secretary does, plus some boring administrative work. The secretary takes minutes at meetings, coordinates the committee and makes sure they actually get things done. Did I mention they write emails? We all live for them clogging up our inbox on Monday morning. I am on the edge of my seat to see what other puns the Phil sec can come up with.
