The complete update of Trinity Live was announced by Trinity IT Services to all students in an email notification this morning.
Trinity Live is a mobile app where Trinity students view their schedule, store their digital college ID, and find other essential information. It has remained largely the same for years until today.
The app received a complete overhaul of its interface. The homepage gives an easily accessible overview of essential information. While key functions of the app, such as the digital student ID card and timetable, remain largely unchanged, new functionalities have been added. For instance, College news and events can be accessed in the app. Previously, these were only available via the College website.
Moreover, the Library Tab has received a major update. Most notably, users can now search the library catalogue directly in the app. Moreover, the opening hours of all Trinity Libraries are easily visible. Direct links to Library resources, such as booking forms for study rooms, contact information for subject librarians, and virtual library tours, allow users to find essential information more easily. Similarly, eResources, such as research databases, can be accessed via the app. Previously, the Library tab on the app showed only current books on loan and any library fees that were due.
The map tab also received a major overhaul. While the previous version of the app had allowed users to access directions to College destinations, the TCD Sense Map is now accessible within the app as well. The Sense Map shows users where facilities, such as sensory spaces and respite spaces, as well as amenities such as microwaves and kettles, are available on campus.
Other changes include a variety of important contacts, information on student services, including directions on how to use College printers, campus services and facilities, opening hours for all campus gates, and useful information for new Trinity students. Moreover, it can now be securely opened using Face ID or fingerprint.
According to the email announcement, the app “offers an improved experience, updated design, and enhanced access to campus information”. The app is available for iOS and Android users and requires sign-in with Trinity credentials.
