Trinity accepted 507 students through the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) in 2026, allowing students to receive course offers at reduced points. This is over a hundred more places than in 2024, when 386 Dare students were admitted to Trinity. In 2023 Trinity admitted 363 and in 2022 Trinity admitted 353. Numbers are not yet available for 2025 as the Senior Lecturer’s annual report has not been published yet.
DARE is a third-level admissions scheme for school leavers with a disability or specific learning difficulty. Applicants who are deemed eligible compete for places on a reduced-points basis. DARE applicants still, however, must meet Trinity’s matriculation and course-specific entry requirements.
Students admitted through DARE typically avail of a points reduction of approximately 10 to 15 per cent. Trinity reserves 25 per cent of places in each course for students admitted through alternative access routes, in which DARE is included. On their website, Trinity says about 8 per cent of courses with a quota of over 40 places are made up of DARE places, while smaller courses may only have one or two.
