The Trinity Business, Finance & Consultancy Fair took place today in the Main Hall of the Trinity Sports Centre, with over 1150 students attending over three hours, according to Trinity Careers Servcie. Organised by Trinity Careers Service, the fair allowed students to meet in person with national and international employers actively recruiting Trinity students and graduates. The busiest stand appeared to be Bank of America, followed by Deloitte and KPMG.
Although the fair was centred on business, finance and consultancy, it was open to students of all disciplines. Speaking to The University Times, Caitríona Marron, Communications & Digital Officer at Trinity Careers Service, said the event was noticeably busier than last year, with the Careers Service having to stagger entry into the sports hall to manage numbers.
Students who spoke to the University Times at the fair were largely optimistic about the Dublin job market in business, finance and consultancy, naming companies such as Accenture, EY, AIB and PTSB as places they would like to work. Views on how useful the fair was were mixed. One student said recruiters at the event could be impersonal and quickly told attendees to apply online. Another was optimistic about making an impression on a recruiter from the “Big 4” to bolster their application to the graduate schemes opening this month.
