Following last Monday’s email from the Academic Registry, semester one provisional results were to be released on Tuesday January 28th for Health Sciences Programmes, Wednesday January 29th for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Programmes and Thursday January 30th for Art, Humanities, Social Sciences and Multi-Faculty Programmes.

Many students were surprised to find they could access their results through the MyTCD portal on Monday January 27th at approximately 5:30pm. Evidently released by mistake, the results were taken down around twenty minutes later. This was the case for students across all years, and reportedly across almost all disciplines.

Once word got around that results were online, many students logged in to see them – and some did. However, many others did not make it in time, due to the results being up for such a short period. This has caused much confusion, emotion and frustration among students but ultimately; no surprise.

A student who briefly saw his results on Monday believes that the leak reflects the “poor administration” of Trinity. “If you say you’re going to release results on one day, release it on that day, not earlier or later.”

He went on to say that “results day is something students genuinely need to ready themselves for, mentally and emotionally. Having that level of uncertainty regarding their results is something students don’t enjoy as they can’t adequately manage the stress.”

On the other hand, those who did not see their results on Monday feel left behind, with another student saying, “We’ve lost the shared experience of all getting our results together.”
