Body Text: Love is in the air, awkwardly making out in the corner of the Arts Block, and now, in the oven. Here’s a recipe perfect for Valentine’s Day this next month and consider this your gentle reminder (men) to try.
Crimson Crinkle Cookies
Ingredients:
- 113g (half a cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 150g (¾ cup) light brown sugar
- 100g (half a cup) granulated sugar
- Two teaspoons vanilla extract
- Half of teaspoons red food coloring (adjust accordingly)
- 250g (two cups) all-purpose flour
- 35g (⅓ cup) cocoa powder
- 1 and a half of teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beat in between.
- Stir in vanilla and red food coloring under fully mixed.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and whisk until combined.
- Cover the bowl, put it in the fridge and let cool for one to two hours.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Fill one bowl with granulated sugar and another with powdered sugar. Scoop ¼ cup of cookie dough, roll in granulated sugar, then in powdered sugar.
- Place the rolled dough on the prepared baking sheet and repeat.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.*
- Gift and enjoy.
