Tréimhse chinniúnach den téarma atá linn – don ragairne ’s don staidéar. Tá aistí, tráchtais, agus scrúdaithe le teacht, ach ar dtús (!), tá curaimí Fhéile Pádraig oraibh freisin, a dhaoine uaisle! Lá shlogadh siar na dí, le ábhairín measarthacht, gan amhras. Cuimhnigh gur lá críostúil é seo – déan cinnte gan a rá le Dia faoi d’iompar, más gá. Dóibh siúd a mbraitheann ciontach, tá sé deimhnithe agam leis an tsagart go mbeidh sé a lorg faoistin an lá dár gcionn.

A fateful time of term is upon us – for revelling and for studying. Essays, theses, agus exams are to come, but first(!), you have St. Patrick’s Day obligations to fulfil, dear readers! It is the day for gulping down drinks, with a measure of moderation, of course. Remember that this is also a Christian day – so, if necessary, make sure not to tell God of your (mis)behaviour. For those who feel guilty, I have it confirmed with the clergy that they will be taking confessions the following day.

Lá fhéile Pádraig sona duit!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you!

Pionta Guinness le do thoil.

A pint of Guinness, please.

Meas tú ar ól na sean-Ghael an “creathán seamróige”?

Do you think the Gaels of old drank the “shamrock shake”?

Ar thuig tú gur lá feallta é Lá Fhéile Pádraig i gcónaí?

Did you know that St. Patrick’s Day is always a cheat day?

Nach féidir an Fhéile a chur ar ceal go dtí tar éis mo thráchtas??!!

Can’t we postpone St. Patrick’s until after my thesis??!!
