Jonathan Anderson, the Irish head of esteemed fashion house Dior, has just announced a show in the Old Library.
Taking place this winter on December 4th, Dior will showcase their Fall 2027 Collection. The show will also be Dior’s first in Ireland.
In a statement to the BBC, Anderson commented that “showing at Trinity College Dublin is a dream come true”, and further described it as “a real honour” to “present this collection in such an extraordinary setting – at an institution with such an important cultural history.”
Anderson revealed the show and location on his personal Instagram account on July 22nd. The post featured an illustration of a four-leaf clover sprouting from a handwritten “Dior”. On three of the leaves, the date, location, and name of the collection are inscribed, with an illustrated ladybug resting on the fourth remaining leaf.
Both motifs are familiar elements of Mr Anderson’s collections for Dior since taking up the helm in 2025.
The announcement also included a quote by Dalkey-born Carmel Snow, reading: “It’s quite a revolution, dear Christian. Your dresses have such a new look.”
The quote featured by Anderson references Snow’s reaction to the Dior 1947 collection, which featured the now-iconic Bar Suit. This era of Dior’s design became known as “the new look” after her observation.
Born Carmel White, she is the editor-in-chief of the American edition of Harper’s Bazaar, and once served as the fashion editor for American Vogue.
Hailing from Magherafelt, County Derry, Anderson secured his first fashion-related job in Dublin, after a short stint studying acting at the Juilliard School in New York City. After deciding to pursue a career in fashion, Anderson moved to London, where he graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2005. He launched his first menswear collection under the JW Anderson label in 2008, and became the creative director of Loewe in 2013, after LVMH took a minority stake in his brand.
After 11 years at Loewe, Anderson was appointed artistic director of Dior Menswear in April 2025, and was then named creative director of Dior womenswear and couture collections in June 2025. The Spring Summer 2026 collection showcased in the fall of 2025 was Anderson’s inaugural collection for Dior.
The show at Trinity will take place only meters from Brown Thomas on Grafton Street, where Anderson took the first step into his fashion career.
