At MVP, a Day of Drink-Free Diversions

MVP on Clanbrassil St has launched Sober Sundays, a regular event focused on alcohol-free fun.

Stuck for fun things to do this weekend? Sick of suffering miserably with a hangover after socialising? Feel like there’s not much to do around the city that doesn’t involve getting D-R-U-N-K?

You’re not alone there. In fact, your struggle has been heard and thankfully, this is all to be rectified: Bodytonic, a forward-thinking pub group whose exploits include The Bernard Shaw, Eatyard, and Wigwam, are bringing Sober Sundays to MVP on Clanbrassil St.

A novel and most welcome undertaking, this initiative will essentially be a day of sober fun (real fun, don’t worry). Launching this Sunday November 11th at 12pm, the day looks set to unfold into what will undoubtedly be a hilariously enjoyable sequence of events: Reggae yoga, alcohol-free drink tastings and demonstrations, food boards by Gralinn, a screening of the Goonies, all of which will be rounded off with a Sing Along Sober event at 7pm by Aoife McElwain of the widely adored Sing Along Social.

Sober Sundays will aim to encourage some learning around our relationship with drink in an environment of fun and laughter, stimulated by cool activities and food, and not by the false haze of alcohol-induced nights out.

The Sober Sundays initiative aims to stimulate learning and an exploration of our drinking in a manner untainted by the haze of alcohol – rather, the enjoyment will stem from the unique madness of it all. Sober Sundays will take place in new Clanbrassil St hotspot MVP, with the inaugural event running this Sunday from 12pm until 7pm. The event itself is free in, with charges for the Reggae Yoga (€16) and Sing Along Sober (€6) events.
